Guide

A little setup. A clearer day.

Short steps for both apps. Menus can differ between Android and iPhone.

Start while safely parked

Never use the app while driving; keep your eyes on the road. Set up, scan and edit while safely parked. Spoken reminders support your work; they do not replace attention, signs or employer procedures.

What each feature does

Your first route

Set up while safely parked, and never use the app while driving. Start small and check your data.

  1. Create a route

Use New route for a reusable stop list and pick the kind of work it is for; the kind switches on the items that matter for it, and you can change it later. For a temporary stack of parcel labels, choose New parcel run instead; it opens the camera.

  2. Add and review stops

Use the route’s building tools to scan a list, type addresses, look up the address where you are standing, or take in a route a coworker sent. Check inferred rows, missing numbers and stop order before saving. Looking up the address where you stand sends only your position, through our service, to Google, and counts against your lookup allowance; treat the answer as a starting point.

  3. Check locations and instructions

Check where each stop sits on the map and correct it where necessary. Locate stops finds positions for stops that have none, and a stop’s detail screen can look up its own address; the best position is the one you set at the stop. If several stops are at one place, such as a front desk or a drop point, make them a shared spot so they share one position. Add notes, holds and forwards, with dates and covered names where relevant. Set your office and your alerts in Settings.

On Route and spoken reminders

Make the phone’s expectations match your route.

  1. Start and confirm

Open the route, start On Route and confirm the current stop before setting off. Location permission and a usable GPS fix are needed for automatic progress; if GPS is uncertain, check the highlighted stop. If Ask for odometer readings is on, enter the reading when asked, or tap Not now. Charge and mount the phone safely. Once moving, keep your eyes on the road: the app speaks so you do not need to look.

  2. Choose when reminders speak

Spoken reminders default to one stop ahead by route position. In Settings, choose distance mode if you prefer a radius, and switch Speak alerts on or off, with separate switches for holds, forwards and notes. With speech off, Android vibrates instead. A phone set to Spanish hears reminders in Spanish; Android needs a Spanish voice installed on the phone for that, and otherwise speaks English. Check media volume and the actual Bluetooth audio output before driving; never change settings while moving.

  3. Correct a wrong stop

While safely stopped, select the stop you are actually working using its current-stop action. Check its stored location if the error repeats. Do not change route order just to compensate for a bad map pin.

  4. Finish or recover

End On Route when finished. If the app was interrupted, review the saved checkpoint and choose whether to resume; a checkpoint doesn’t mark any stop done. Instructions still in effect can be spoken again in a new session; hearing one before does not dismiss it for good.

Scan labels and manage packages

Camera results need your review, not blind trust.

  1. Read a label

From a route’s scanner, frame the address clearly and review the matching stop. Check the house number, street and unit. Choose the correct suggestion or scan again when uncertain. Labels are read on the phone; reading depends on the label’s print and the address format.

  2. Type an address

No label, or a smudged one? Tap Type an address and enter the house number and street, or dictate them with your keyboard’s microphone. It’s matched the same way as a scanned label, in Scan label, Find stop and a parcel run.

  3. Add the package

Add a confirmed match to today’s packages. Use the stop’s package actions to update its status; review unfinished items before ending the day. A package on today’s list is a note to yourself, not a record that anything was delivered.

  4. Find a stop

Find stop shows a label’s stop number and what is flagged there, with a button for each of the route’s items: a package for today, a hold or forward with its dates, a note, a name from the label, or one of your own item types. Review the stop, names and dates before saving. Do not photograph material your workplace prohibits storing.

Plan a temporary parcel run

Scan first; review the route before driving.

  1. Scan the stack

New parcel run opens directly in the camera. Confirm each address; review duplicates and uncertain matches rather than treating the count as a guarantee that every label was read. Type an address works here too.

  2. Plan and review

Use Plan, check start and end choices and inspect the suggested order. Stops without a position are looked up first, unless one of your routes already places them. The order is planned on the phone and doesn’t know one-way streets or vehicle restrictions: check access and entrances yourself, and drag any stop to change it. A suggestion is not a guarantee of the shortest or safest drive.

  3. Manage parcel run history

Find the run in Parcel run history. Long-press its entry for actions including Delete. Retention controls differ between Android and iPhone, so don’t use run history as your only copy of important work.

Keep stop information current

Keep the address and its instructions together.

  1. Review dates and scope

Open a stop to edit notes, hold dates, forward names or accepted-name rules, and check dates and scope before saving. End or remove instructions deliberately. To see every stop with one kind of instruction, open its list from the route: Stop instructions on Android’s More tab, In force on iPhone’s route page.

  2. Get the morning digest

Turn on the morning digest from the route’s menu, and set its time in Settings. Each morning a notification lists that route’s holds ending, anything starting today, forwards in force and do-not-deliver names.

  3. Change the order

Use route editing to move stops; use route history for supported undo and redo. Today’s package updates, tool records and backup restoration are separate actions, not covered by a universal Undo.

  4. Keep another order

Use Route copies to try another order of a familiar route without changing the original. Review the copy’s stop order before using it.

Review the day and insights

Use the records as a reference, not an official time clock.

  1. Check today’s values

Open Today to review recorded times, breaks and mileage. Correct mistakes; anything else about the day, such as volume, goes in the day’s note. Automatic times depend on On Route running with location access, and Android records more office and break detail than iPhone.

  2. Record breaks and sessions

Use the break timer and review retained session history. End a session deliberately. A session ending means tracking stopped, not that every stop was done.

  3. Read comparisons carefully

Basic Trends shows recorded work over time. Plus Workday insights compares your hours on the route with past days on the same weekday, once enough records exist. Check sample sizes and missing days; a shorter day is not evidence of safer or better driving.

Share with an authorized coworker

Pair once, then send updates. A route transfer is different from a backup.

  1. Pair trusted phones

On both phones, open Send route from Home (Send routes on Android), then Trusted phones. Give each phone a label, exchange pairing cards by scanning or AirDrop / Quick Share, then compare the whole six-group code in person or over a call with someone you know. Confirm on both phones. A pairing card carries public keys only. Removing a trusted phone stops future updates; it doesn’t recall files already sent.

  2. Send an encrypted update

Choose the route and the recipient, confirm you are authorized to share complete instructions and names, then share the encrypted file through your email app, Files, AirDrop or Quick Share. The recipient reviews the sender and accepts. The first update creates a linked copy; later updates keep their local edits in a separate copy. Positions you set at the stop go with the route; stops placed by a lookup arrive without one, and the receiving phone looks them up itself.

  3. Without pairing

For a one-off handoff, transfer a sealed file and give the recipient its code through a separate trusted channel, or show QR codes in person. In-person QR codes are not encrypted. Review free-text notes before sharing: removing named fields does not anonymize them. Review the import preview before applying changes.

Back up or change phones

Use Settings → Backup & restore on either platform.

  1. Create the encrypted file

Save edits and stop On Route. Enter and confirm a unique password of at least 12 characters, then save the file. Keep the password safe and separate; CarrierCaddy cannot recover it. Your chosen file provider may store the encrypted file in the cloud.

  2. Restore additional copies

On the receiving phone, enter the password, choose and check the file and review its snapshot. Restore adds routes and tools; duplicates are possible and existing day records win conflicts. Check restored names, holds, forwards and packages before your next route.

  3. Understand protected originals

Settings, undo history, deleted records and unsupported details remain in protected originals and future backups, not the live app. Android cannot display tool photos; iPhone keeps tool photos over 1 MB only in originals. This is not a full replacement restore. Keep the source file until you have checked everything.

  4. Manage copies deliberately

A backup file holds about 64 MB, originals included, so a large photo library may not fit. Clearing protected originals is separate from deleting routes and does not remove exported files.

Plus

Start Plus, use a code or restore a purchase in Settings → CarrierCaddy Plus.

  1. Start Plus

Open Settings → CarrierCaddy Plus to see what Plus adds and what stays free. Tap Subscribe and choose monthly or yearly; your App Store or Google Play account shows the price before you confirm, and the subscription renews until you cancel.

  2. Have a code?

On the same screen, under Have a code?, enter the code and tap Redeem code. With a code, every Plus feature works, and lookups come from the shared allowance.

  3. Restore purchases

On a new phone, or after reinstalling, open the same screen and tap Restore purchases while signed in to the same App Store or Google Play account.

  4. Cancel or change

Manage or cancel the subscription in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings; deleting the app doesn’t cancel it. If Plus ends, the app goes back to the free features. Nothing you made is taken away.

Troubleshooting

The problems that come up most. Still stuck? Email support; a person reads every email.

A spoken reminder didn’t play.

While parked, check that On Route is active and the instruction is still in effect; that Speak alerts is on, and the switch for that kind of instruction is on; and that route-position or distance timing is set as intended. Check media volume, Bluetooth output and the selected stop. Keep essential instructions available independently while investigating.

The map or a lookup is unavailable.

Check your connection and any message about the service. Saved route data is separate from online maps. Do not clear app storage or reinstall to fix a map problem. Free lookups come from an allowance shared by everyone on the free plan, released a day at a time, and today’s share can run out; it is topped up the next day. Lookups answered from public US address data, and positions you set at the stop, keep working.

A backup will not open or fit.

Check the password, the free space, and that you chose a backup file made in Settings → Backup & restore, not a route export. Large photos and protected originals can go over the size limit. Keep the original file; do not delete your only copy to retry.

The app closed or saved data will not open.

Do not clear app storage or reinstall: you may erase your only local data. Note the phone model, app version and what happened, using made-up examples. Share only diagnostics you have reviewed, and only if support asks; route files and tracking logs may contain sensitive data.
